Monica Solorio-Snow

The Happy Zombie

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in a German/Mexican home - Monica's childhood was filled with love, laughter, fun and color (and the occasional sauerkraut taco). Monica's artwork and whimsical style is a refection of her family and cultures - as well as influences of Hawai'i where she lived before moving to her current home in Oregon. All her influences rolled into one, Monica calls this her "chop suey of happiness".

Continually learning, Monica's quilting experience spans two decades, and has been embroidering since first leaning the craft in her Brownie Troop in the 3rd grade. Monica's love of quilting and stitchery blossomed many years later when she moved from the Land of Sunshine (Hawai'i) to the Land of Not So Much Sun (NW Oregon) - and creating her own sunshine and color through fabric and floss.

Many of Monica's quilting and sewing patterns can be found in the pages of Better Homes and Gardens - Quilts & More magazines, as well as on her blog, www.thehappyzombie.com. Monica's patterns can also be found on various websites and in books - which are accessible via the "Projects" listing on her blog.

Monica makes her home in beautiful Astoria, Oregon with her husband and youngest son - along with their two Golden Retrievers and two cats.
